With just over a month until the Museums + Tech 2017 conference, it’s time for us to throw open our annual call for nominations for new MCG Committee members.

Joining the MCG Committee is a great way to help the sector and support your peers in museum technology. It’s also an opportunity to meet new people, gain valuable skills and experience, and build your CV. We’re an active group, putting together events and projects that have a real impact on the heritage sector. You don’t need to work in a museum to apply – we’ve had students, academics, freelancers and staff from agencies and other cultural heritage organisations. You’ll also be given a ‘Buddy’, an experienced Committee member who will help you through the first few months. If you are motivated to help, are looking for an exciting opportunity and have some free time, please read on!

This year is special, as we’re seeking candidates for the general Committee and the Chair ahead of the MCG Annual General Meeting on 03 November 2017. Terms are for three years, with an option to seek re-election for a second term. As a member of the Committee, you’ll have the opportunity to work on a number of different activities, including events, partnerships, marketing and community engagement, sponsorship and website management. The Chair is responsible for leading a diverse, distributed Committee, liaising with senior decision-makers, and steering the activities of the Museums Computer Group. It’s a fantastic opportunity to drive change in the sector and connect museum professionals from across the UK and globally.

Nominate yourself (or someone else) at https://goo.gl/forms/LJKPPBV9fhvAPAcY2 by midday, November 2.

You can find more information about the roles and the process by emailing our current Chair, Mia Ridge, at contact@museumscomputergroup.org.uk.
